Yellow Cumaru

Medium-sized tree, reaching up to 20-30 m tall, with a globose crown. Has Cilindric trunk with 50-70 cm in diameter, bark thin, rough, and exfoliating in irregular flat. Fluoresce every year during the months of August and September and the fruits ripen in January and February. The fruit is oval drupaceous, fibrous and spongy and contains only one seed and rough black color. It is known mostly for its fragrance, which is reminiscent of vanilla, almonds, cinnamon and cloves. Commercially, it is a nice substitute for vanilla, one element also used in perfum-ery.
